Phylos: I knew these people… is a multi-sequence video installation that interrogates the fragility of human perception within the "artificial intelligence apparatus". Harnessing a collaborative workflow with GPT-4 and synthetic voices, the work dismantles personal Super 8 archives into unstable strata of image, sound, and text.

HOWL X SHYGIRL (2025) is a campaign performance for HOWL Worldwide — a queer-founded, sex-positive sexual wellness brand — for the launch of the HOWL x SHYGIRL SKIN. Wang's body inhabits a space between desire and refusal, performing pleasure not as spectacle but as a form of quiet political presence.

Chapter One: The Façade You Wore (2025) is a fashion editorial and campaign for Howard Atelier, published exclusively in KALTBLUT Magazine. Shot in a site of charged intimacy, Wang inhabits sculptural millinery as wearable masks — probing the liminal territory between public persona and private self.

Vertigo (2024) is a multi-media installation and experimental film in collaboration with visual artist SungHoon Song — exploring the ontological yearning for falling, the state experienced most acutely in moments of stability. Exhibited at Zero Space Tokyo; selected by NOWNESS ASIA.

Pulling Threads (2024) is a queer dating show produced by the National Film and Television School (NFTS), premiered at BFI Southbank, London. Wang appears as a performer and contestant in a format that fuses craft-making with queer intimacy — a space where vulnerability is the material, not the obstacle.

Liminal Stranding

Liminal Stranding (2023) is a one-person show written, directed, and performed by Mingxiang Wang — his MA graduation work at Central Saint Martins. Combining live performance with projected cinema across three screens, the piece uses a single toilet on stage to hold open the spaces between public and private, clean and dirty, here and there.

This project marked Mingxiang Wang’s professional debut in Slovenia, offering a profound engagement with Central European theatre contexts and diverse performance genres.

A site-specific video installation at Tokyo's Denchu Hirakushi House — a Registered Tangible Cultural Property — presented under Tokyo University of the Arts (Geidai). Wang contributed his Super 8 work Déambuler: Blue Dream, placing personal analogue memory in dialogue with historic architecture and diverse East Asian voices.

Blue Dream (2022) is an autobiographic Super 8 video by Mingxiang Wang, screened at the opening of the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt display at Woolwich Works. Invited by METRO Charity for World AIDS Day, the work uses the intimacy of analogue film to confront stigma and speak across generations.

Metamorphosis of Masculinity (2022) is a site-specific performance art work that interrogates the rigid constructs of gender performance. Set in London, the piece uses the biological and social body as a canvas to explore the tension between inherited masculine archetypes and the internal drive toward a more fluid, liminal identity.
